Interior Painting

Full interior repaints, single rooms, hallways, feature walls and ceilings. David works through the house in an order that lets you keep living in it, and cleans up at the end of every day rather than at the end of the job.

  • Walls, ceilings, cornices and skirting
  • Feature walls and accent colours
  • Doors, architraves and built-in cupboards
  • Low-VOC water-based systems where they suit

Heritage Detail

Ballarat has a lot of houses with things worth keeping. Ceiling roses, cornices, arch corbels, timber fretwork, picture rails and leadlight surrounds all get cut in by hand rather than rushed.

Preparation, Plaster & Repairs

The part nobody photographs and everybody notices later. Surfaces are tested to find out whether the existing coating is oil or water based, then filled, sanded, repaired and undercoated so the topcoat has something to hold on to.

  • Oil-based or water-based testing before quoting
  • Plaster repairs and replastering
  • Timber trim, quad and screen door repairs
  • Furniture moved and existing paintwork protected

An interior hallway with painted wall panelling and a door

One room or the whole house.

A single hallway gets the same approach as a full interior repaint: test, prepare, repair, then paint. Tell David what you have in mind and he will come and look at it in person.

Where David works.

Ballarat and the surrounding areas, across the goldfields and the towns around it. If you are nearby and not sure whether you are in range, just ask.

Can I stay in the house while you paint?

Usually yes. David plans the order of work around you, tidies at the end of each day and keeps the disruption to whichever part of the house he is in. One customer stayed put through a full interior repaint, cats included.

What if my walls turn out to be oil-based?

That gets tested before quoting. Water-based paint over an oil-based surface will not last unless it is prepared correctly, so David checks the walls and the woodwork first and prices the job on what is actually there.

Do you fix things as well, or only paint?

Repairs come with the job. Plaster repairs, replastering, filling, timber trim, quad and screen door repairs have all come up on past jobs and been sorted as part of the work.

Can you help me choose the colours?

Yes, and it is one of the things customers mention most. David brushes samples out at your place, tests them in your own light, and gives an honest opinion on tone rather than defaulting to builders white.

Do you paint rentals and houses going to market?

Yes. Pre-sale repaints and rental or holiday-let refreshes are regular work, and they are usually the jobs with the tightest timeframes. Say up front when you need it finished by.
